In the year 2011 Dwingeloo was acclaimed as the Greenest Village within the Netherlands.
Located in the rural province of Drenthe, Dwingeloo is part of the Westerveld municipality and has every right to refer to its historic details which is also expressed in the village's green and the landscape. From the heart the robust tree structures integrate into the surrounding area. The landscape includes common land and stream valleys, heathlands, woods, lanes, pastures and recent developments. It also offers two national parks. Together with the many country estates they present a beautiful scenery.
